Welcome to our club a letter from LCRW President Mary Tapper
Never since the founding of our Constitution has the cry of “We the People” been greater!
You have heard and answered the call. Thank you.
Welcome to the Lewis and Clark Republican Women’s club of Helena, Montana. The Founding of the Republican Party GOP:
On March 20, 1854, fifty men, three women, and one child met in a small frame schoolhouse in Ripon, Wisconsin to discuss the creation of a new political party. The purpose of this new party was to stand firm against the spread of slavery in the new western territories. They chose the name, “Republican.” Newspaper editor, Horace Greely, embraced the name as appropriate for those who had united to restore the Union to its true mission of Champion and Promulgator of Liberty, rather than propagandist of slavery. Within six short years, the Republican party had achieved national status by electing its first president, Abraham Lincoln. Thus our story begins!
The Objectives of LCRW are to:
Promote an informed public through political education and activity
Increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government
Foster loyalty to the Republican Party and to promote its principles
Work for the election of Republican Party nominees
Promote the principles of Freedom, Equality, and Justice
As representatives of LCRW, we encourage all members to be “boots on the ground.” We have many opportunities to serve: letter writing, fundraising, event hosting, door-knocking, and poll watching… and many, many more. Choose the committee(s) in the areas in which you are most passionate to serve! We welcome your active participation in this move to, “take back our country!”
I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you.
God Bless you and God Bless the USA!
Mary Tapper
